After graduating high school in 1978, I started working in the oil and gas industry as a Receiving Verifier at Smith International’s Drilco. I held that position until the mid-1980’s when the bottom dropped out of the domestic energy market. Following that, I worked in retail management with stints at Wynn Stores, Crafts Etc. and Radio Shack. By the late 80’s, I realized something was missing on my career path and I wasn’t fulfilled. That’s when I turned to art. I researched the possibilities of actually making a living with art and in 1989 made the big decision to invest in myself and go back to school full time at the Art Institute of Houston. That was the foundation for a new career and the beginning of a new life.
After useful real-time work experience through an internship and graduating with honors from AIH, my new career began.
